The problem

Fiola VZW stands for expertise and experience in outpatient and mobile support for babies, children, young people, and adults with (suspected) disabilities.

Their core message is “strong together”: together with their clients and their network, they seek the most suitable solutions for living with a disability.

Both the main building in Wetteren and the branch in the center of Ghent had to contend with high resonance values in several rooms. Since Fiola works with people with disabilities, it is very important that intelligibility is excellent and that the reception areas feel warm and homely to create an optimal atmosphere of trust.

COUST Acoustics was called in to do the job.

Our solution

At FIOLA Wetteren, literally almost ALL COUST products were used: COUSTbaffles in the large and small banquet halls – supplemented with COUSTwalls; a COUSTbase and two COUSTwalls at the reception desk; COUSTwalls in the commercial workspaces, meeting rooms, and cafeteria. Everything was designed to be as sober and unobtrusive as possible to respect the cachet of the architecture.

At the Ghent site, the reception areas, meeting room, and communal kitchen were fitted with custom-made COUSTwalls and COUSTceilings. Here too, COUST applied the principle of quasi-invisibility: the acoustic panels do not attract any attention whatsoever, but they do their job perfectly!

Result

The result is very stylish but above all effective. FIOLA welcomes its customers in rooms that are pleasant to be in, thanks to the great attention paid to both the interior design and the acoustics. A subdued atmosphere is calming for all parties and allows difficult issues to be discussed in complete serenity.
